The Christmas season is coming in at warp speed! Soon we will be scrambling for the perfect gifts for all of the special people in our lives. I know every year it comes earlier and earlier. But even BAEC office Scrooge, Tara, knows that act of giving is what the season is truly all about. So, this year make your gift count a little more by giving the gift of education!

On November 17, from 5:30-8 pm, the BAEC will host our Annual Silent Auction Scholarship Fundraiser at the Matterhorn. Last year the Auction raised over $6,000, and five local students received $1,000 in scholarships because of you. These scholarships are available to all our members regardless of their vocation. While $1000 may not seem like a lot, it can make a difference and ease a little of the financial burden for these young people.

While the Silent Auction is our second-largest event, its success depends on your generosity! We need donated items that can be auctioned off. These items can be goods or services! But in case you need a little help, here are a few ideas from previous years:

Homemade caramels and a fantastic mustard sauce

Giant poinsettias

Gift baskets

Water coolers

Sports memorabilia

Wine and spirits

Metal sculptures

Indy 500 tickets

Gift cards

And the list goes on! Even though Tara isn’t feeling the spirit of the season yet, she would be delighted to take your calls and questions about donations.

Don’t let the bah humbugs get you this year. Get a jump start on your Christmas list and plan to attend this event! Eat and be merry, enjoy outbidding your table mates, and remember, it’s all for a great cause.
