Doug Miller, State Representative for a portion of Elkhart County, continues to be an active member of the Builders Association of Elkhart County, Indiana Builders Association, and the National Association of Home Builders. His path to the general assembly included leadership positions in the BAEC culminating as president in 2003 and at the state level as State President in 2011.  Both provided invaluable opportunities to advocate on local, state, and national issues impacting housing affordability and job creation. First elected in the fall of 2013, Doug has represented the Elkhart community since 2014 and is seeking re-election for the 2019/20 term of the General Assembly. Tailor Made Homes, LLC is the primary business for Doug (a custom home builder). In addition, he manages Creekside Realty, LLC as managing broker and White Pines Properties, LLC (a property management company). As a broker, Doug currently is in his last year on the board of directors of the Elkhart County Board of Realtors.

Doug and his wife Linda recently celebrated 43 years together. They have four children and six grandchildren. As a couple they enjoy traveling together, often with friends. Free time is spent golfing, but his favorite pastime is spent at home with his wife and his family being a grandpa. Serving others in the community and being a public servant with the goal of improving the quality of life for the next generation of Hoosiers are top priorities as well.

When asked why he continues to be involved in the building industry, he replied, “I am passionate about the industry that afforded me so many opportunities”. Serving as State Representative is a great avenue to be a voice for home building. Celebrating his 43 years as a home builder also provides many insights and experiences that help shape public policy in Indiana. “Hoosiers need common sense solutions and hometown values when working on issues that impact the entire state”. He wants to make sure “housing wins” and continues to work to advocate for housing affordability.

Rep. Miller commented, “There is nothing the building industry does not touch”, and it is important to the entire state to keep housing healthy, fruitful, and strong by re-electing Doug to continued service in the general assembly. A huge thank you to Rep. Doug Miller for not only his years in the BAEC, but for his commitment to the industry. Thank you, Doug!
